New Vendor Interview: Say I Do Formal Hair LLC

I'm Jessica, a Colorado native that is a licensed cosmetologist since 2010! I'm a mother of 2 boys (not doing braids and pretty princess makeup at home unfortunately) and I love to get out and explore Colorado's natural beauty, weather and scenery. My company, Say I Do Formal Hair LLC, is an on-site wedding and special event hair and makeup company working to help brides and their entourages feel like their hair and face are absolutely picture perfect for the big event!
We book different packages to fit your wedding, whether you're having a small intimate wedding or want the whole entourage looking spot on for your event! We can book up to 8 gorgeous ladies at a time and we are proud to use Vegan / Cruelty Free Makeup Products (Bodyography and Col*Lab bases / primers / brushes and blushes).
Whether you're looking for a romantic long down relaxed style or a New York formal style up-do, I can achieve your Cinderella dream look!

How long have you been in business?

This all started as a dream for me in hopes of using my passion for beauty and art together. A couple years ago I woke up one day and realized my talent would be best used if I took a leap of faith and started my own style business that really focuses on the beauty and glow of women!
I started doing bridal hair and makeup in 2012 as a add-on service for a couple photographers, and in 2016 branched out on my own and started Say I Do Formal Hair. It started with just hair and has now grown to both hair and makeup services. I decided thanks to Colorado being well … Colorado, that I wanted to really focus on being environmental conscious (glass packaging / low waste products) and using only Cruelty Free / Vegan / Gluten / Paraben Free products.

How would you best describe your style?

My bridal hair and makeup style really ranges… Personally, I'm a true Colorado Native girl that like the Boho, Boulder style and casual enhancement makeup. I do truly love and gravitate toward the natural, soft, romantic brides. Enhancing but not over powering makeup that's there enough to be seen in pictures but not to overwhelm. With gently flowing locks in low buns with soft curls hanging for a little sexier, messy, carefree look. BUT, I can also get creative with bold dramatic insta-style brides looking to shine as bright as their dresses with braids and pinterest worthy updos!

What would previous clients say was the main reason they chose your company?

Brides choose to work with me for many reasons, but the most common is because I do both hair and makeup! They only have to book with one company, work with one timeline and only have one stylist there blending into the tribe on the wedding day.
Also, when a bride books with me they like that the whole process, from the first message to the actual wedding day, they are 100% sure they get ME every step of the way. Some companies are comprised of full teams which means there could be someone different messaging them, then the boss at the pretrial, and on the wedding day someone different shows up! I don't like working like that; I love being there the entire way and building relationships with my brides!
And, I've heard my budget friendly approach to wedding day is also quite personal and friendly!

How far in advance should brides start planning with you?

So, this one is a tricky one for a hairstylist to answer… I don't want to be the last one you’re booking, because your hair and makeup is REALLY IMPORTANT!, but really I say 6 - 8 months in advance is a good range to start getting serious about booking hair and makeup. Some brides do book a year out to secure their date, but then nothing really happens until 3-4 months before the big day when you have your "getting ready location" and final head counts hopefully set in stone. Plan to book your pretrial with your bridal team to do your practice looks 2 months before the wedding so you know what you’re planning to look like, but you still have time to do some last minute tweaks (bump up your skin care regime, color your roots, and pick your final hair piece you’re in love with off of Etsy).
No matter when you do decide to consider booking, make sure before booking you have your dream dress and veil, your bridal tribe picked and locked in, and your ceremony time(ish - give or take a hour or so) set because these are the main things your hair and makeup timeline for the wedding day will revolve around.
I'm here for clients to make their day as magical, calm and fun as possible - Book me and know I'll be there with you and your girls making everything fun and stress-free as a professional friend!!
