Meet Liz, owner of white daisy events
• Tell us a little about your business:
White Daisy Events is a Colorado Event Design, Event Planning and Personal Stylist company focused on special events. Located in Colorado Springs, owned by Colorado native, Liz Cohen.
• How did you get your start in the special event industry?
When I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver as a Communications major, I decided to do a couple unpaid internships that taught me a lot about the Event Planning industry. I then took a course by Debbie Orwat (previous owner of Save the Date Events) that was titled, “Getting Started as a Wedding Planner.” One of the main things this class taught me was if I wanted to really learn about the Event Planning world I needed to work for a wedding vendor. So from there I was hired at Bella Bridesmaids Denver. For 2 years I worked there and helped 100s of brides style their weddings. Working at Bella Bridesmaids I truly fell in love with wedding fashion. Hour long appointments would quickly go from talking about just bridesmaids dresses to helping these girls plan the fashion for their entire wedding party as well as different aspects of their weddings such as; floral, music, ceremony/reception decor etc. In October of 2015 I decided I needed to start my own company and White Daisy Events was born.
• What’s your favorite part of the job?
There is nothing like working with a client one on one and then seeing their face light up when they see the final product. It is right then that I know we accomplished something beautiful. There is nothing more rewarding then making someone’s vision become a reality.
• What trends do you love or would like to see be left behind?
I love lace and tulle. I think the illusion neckline is to die for when it comes to wedding fashion. I also love when you can get your guests doing something active. Lawn games during cocktail hour and a Photo Booth during the reception are both great ways to achieve this.
The only wedding trend I am REALLY not a fan of is TMI Wedding Photography poses. Let’s keep it classy ladies!
• If you met with a bride and groom and literally had ONE minute to tell them why they should use your company, what would you say?
I am not the pushy type of person personally so I would take the first 30 seconds and have them tell me what they are looking for. It would be only then I would tell them how much I want to help them and how working with me can truly make their lives and wedding planning journey so much easier and stress-free so they can enjoy this special time together.
• What sets you apart from other vendors in your category?
White Daisy Events is unique from other Event Planning companys because we offer Personal Stylist services. Whether you are a bride or a guest going to a big event, we will help you find the perfect fashion to wear for the big day that makes you feel and look fabulous!
• How far in advance should couples contact you to start their planning with you?
Working with couples from the very beginning is always best no matter what the service is you are looking for. For Event Design or Event Planning services: reaching out no later than 6 months prior to your event is strongly advised. We really like to get to know our clients and be apart of the planning process as soon as possible, which is why for Event Planning services we only offer Full Service or Partial Planning services. Both Full Service and Partial Planning packages include Day Of Coordination, but we do not offer Day Of Coordination only.
For Personal Stylist services, we are here to help when you need us. We always prefer to be contacted before you even start your shopping to make finding the fashion for your wedding party as fun and stress free as possible. Sometimes that is not the case so give us a call and we will see what we can do to help.
• What tips or advice can you give couples planning their big day?
Hire a wedding planner! The Event Coordinator at your venue is not a wedding planner. Your Photographer is not a wedding planner. Only a wedding planner will be with you every step of the way to make sure your big day is everything you dreamt it to be and more. Hiring a wedding planner not only makes your life easier, but the lives of all the other vendors hired for your big day easier as well.
