How do you determine what’s really important in choosing a wedding caterer? Where do you even start!?
A big portion of any wedding reception is the food. We want you to have the greatest day with your family and friends who are coming together to celebrate the beautiful bond of love. Because of that, the Relish Catering team wants you to be prepared with these 5 questions to ask your wedding caterer!
Once you’ve found a few wedding caterers that would be a good fit for you, make sure to ask the following 5 questions to narrow down your list.
1. What is your process from start to finish?
Get to know the wedding caterer’s process and understand the way they work. This will also be a great opportunity to follow up with other questions that will help put timelines into perspective and sort smaller details like whether or not there is a complimentary tasting.
2. How do you plan to accommodate any dietary restrictions for my guests and where is your food sourced from?
Through this question, you’ll be able to assess how accommodating your wedding caterer is and how far they’re willing to go to ensure you and your guests have a memorable day. When it comes to food sourcing, it’s important to know whether your wedding caterer is using local and fresh ingredients. These two principles will ensure higher quality and better taste for all the meals that will fuel your dancing!
3. Do you offer "full service" catering?
Full service catering is a blessing from the wedding catering gods. If you want to lower your costs and take a few items off your plate (ex: setup, equipment rentals, staff), make sure to ask this question! Partnering with a catering company that offers this service (like Relish!) will allow you to leave smaller details to the experts and give you more time and capacity to focus on arranging details with other vendors.
4. Have you catered at my venue before?
Having experience working in a familiar setting is a HUGE plus. Taking into consideration each venue has a different layout and policies, working with a wedding caterer who has worked at your venue previously will definitely save you some energy.
5. What deals or packages do you offer?
Weddings can be expensive!! Who doesn’t want to save a couple bucks? Ask your wedding caterer whether they offer any packages or discounts when booking for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding day. It never hurts to ask what other deals they’re offering – even during the offseason. For some venues, Relish offers a free hors d’oeuvre and always offers a discount for booking multiple meals for the wedding celebration.
Many thanks to our friends at Relish Catering & Events for this blog. They note: "Going through the 'Relish Way' is an easy process; countless couples have done it already! Once you’ve booked your wedding venue, simply give us a call to speak to your event designer and share your story and vision. The event designer will then meet with you to customize a unique menu that takes your guests into consideration and makes you feel 100% satisfied. This chat will happen while tasting some delicious bites made from the freshest Colorado-sourced ingredients. Being a full-service company, we’ll take care of the details – just let us know what you need to be able to fully enjoy your day and celebrate worry-free! PS- WE DO HAVE SPECIAL DEALS WHEN BOOKING RELISH MORE THAN ONCE ;). GIVE US A CALL TO FIND OUT MORE!"
